Screen, don’t stream.

It is no secret that social events have always been an inherent part of the human experience. They shape our collective morals, preferences and simply influence the things we enjoy. Social spaces and venues used to be a place where community members could come together and appreciate something as a group.

Streaming services have certainly limited the amount of time communities spend at public social events. We believe that offering our service not only poses potential for increasing social interaction but also spreads a wider scope of options than a streaming service. For example, streaming services (while full of options) still sometimes lack that one good show you want to watch. As well as this, while convenient, they have stricken many people of a desire to go out.

Watching a film or series requires little effort nowadays. At SIT, patrons are given an opportunity to enjoy the feeling of going for a night out but still having control over their experience. That is to say, their night can still feel effortless while they get to feel that they have made something of their night without spending too much money, or expelling unnecessary effort.

These shared experiences often become truly important memories rather than background entertainment – which has become common with streaming services. Through encouraging groups to go out together for a private screening experience where they can be comfortable to be themselves, SIT reinforces the idea that effort alone is not leisure. Social connections, atmosphere and shared enjoyment is.
